SpringHill Suites by Marriott Huntington Beach Orange County

Staff were nice, and there wasn’t anything majorly wrong. The room was freezing when we first arrived and took a while to get comfortable. I prefer a more homey place where I can relax, and this modern style didn’t give me that feeling. It was also different from the other one in another state where we stayed.

The location is hard to beat if you want to shop, since the hotel is right across from the mall. It seems to have been renovated recently, with new carpet, wallpaper, and facades. Breakfast was okay, though they seemed short staffed during the busy hours. The walls are so thin we could hear the next room’s bed banging against the wall at midnight, as well as car doors slamming outside. There’s also an unadvertised charge per car per night, so call ahead. With so many similarly priced choices nearby, I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Nicholas at the service desk is a great guy, and the location is very convenient. The rooms feel outdated for the area and the prices, though. Please replace the nasty shampoo with something more premium for what you charge, and update the coffee machines to Keurig. Some of the ladies at the desk have serious attitudes.

We’d stay here again if needed. The rooms were cleaner than at other SpringHill Suites we’ve used, the parking lot is well lit, and there are several entrances and exits. The area has some homeless people, including around the In and out next door, but we never saw them come onto the hotel lot. We did notice all the signs telling guests to lock cars and bring belongings inside, probably because i405 is easy to access. The location is handy for Huntington Beach, Asian Town, shops, restaurants, and parks. The kids liked the second-floor outdoor area, though they were disappointed that the bean bags for cornhole cost extra. Most of the staff, including housekeeping and maintenance, were friendly and welcoming. The buffet crew kept food stocked through closing, and Ashley at reception was especially kind, down to earth, and informative. The guy working with her was great too. They greeted everyone, even if it was just a smile and nod. Two receptionists and one cleaning lady were only mediocre. There are connecting rooms, and one night we could hear everything next door around midnight. We put a towel at the adjoining door, but it didn’t block the sound. If you’re sensitive to noise, ask for a room without a connecting door. We were too tired to be bothered much that night. Our family appreciated the extra mirrors inside and outside the closet doors. In room 407, the bathroom mirror light is finicky and needs replacing, and water easily splashes from the shower onto the floor, so ask for extra towels.
