Fitzgerald Hotel

We left after the first night and got a refund for the other three nights we’d booked. The bathroom had roaches and other bugs, and the rooms were extremely small. There’s no AC, so opening the windows meant putting up with a lot of outside noise. Kids were playing on the fire escape at all hours of the night. The building is very old, and the elevator seemed like it might break down every time we used it. There are much better places to stay. Don’t do it.

The one good thing is the location. It’s fine for a night, but the hotel and rooms look nothing like the pictures on the booking platforms. The morning receptionist was unfriendly and had an angry attitude. They also need to pay closer attention to cleanliness.

We chose the Fitzgerald Hotel Union Square for two nights and had a miserable stay. The room faced the building across the street, where a naked man stood watching out his window. We kept our curtains closed, but the situation was disgraceful. This isn’t a nudist building, and it wasn’t what we signed up for. The breakfast was awful: just bread, bad cream cheese, butter, jam, and an orange. If breakfast matters to you, stay somewhere else and eat out. The elevator was ancient, held only about three people, and felt unsafe. The area may look touristy, but it smelled bad and felt more dangerous the farther we walked. The price doesn’t make up for the location, service, and unpleasant surroundings. Especially for families, I’d say choose somewhere safer where you can feel secure.

The place smelled funky, parking was difficult and expensive, and the front desk staff had a lot of attitude. They also didn’t provide the listed amenities. The rooms were tiny with no closet space, and the old elevator was extremely small. It looked nothing like the pictures. I don’t recommend it.
