San Francisco Marriott Union Square After a very difficult stay elsewhere, I arrived emotionally worn out from an exhausting stretch of travel. This team didn’t know what I’d been through, but they still helped me feel cared for again. It turned a vulnerable moment into a healing stay, and I won’t forget it. The room was lovely, the surroundings calm, and management handled my room preference concern quickly and thoughtfully. They were responsive and professional, without any defensiveness. I’m grateful, and there are no hard feelings. The front desk associate Tammye was calm, empathetic, and sincerely caring. She listened and reassured me with real intention. At the door, the doorkeeper and my Angel, that’s also his name, welcomed me with kindness, attention, and a smile. He helped with all my belongings and made me feel safe as soon as I came in. That first welcome set the tone for the whole stay. I’m grateful to the entire team for their professionalism, kindness, and quick care. They reminded me why I choose Marriott. When it’s done right, the experience feels seamless, dignified, and restorative. This stay really did feel like a reset for my nervous system.

It was my first time in SFO, and we stayed from 22nd Dec 25 to 25th Dec. The location felt perfect, very walkable, and the view of Union Square had a huge Christmas tree with Macy’s right in front. Very picturesque. The room was good too, and unlike Marriott Napa, this place had umbrellas and friendly staff. Breakfast seems expensive and isn’t included in the room rate. I don’t understand that, especially when the room tariff isn’t cheap.

The front desk told me proudly that this is the best hotel in San Francisco. They should visit a Marriott in Australia and see what that actually means. How does this place have over four stars? I suspect many five-star reviewers haven’t stayed at a proper Marriott. It’s an embarrassment to the brand. There’s no room service. I called the dedicated room service button on the in-room phone for 20 minutes, only for the front desk to tell me the service doesn’t exist. There was no mention of that before I arrived. The sink pressure was barely a trickle, and felt deliberately restricted, while the shower pressure was fine. There was no hot water kettle or milk, and the tea and coffee setup was minimal: one tea bag, two coffee sachets, and a creamer that barely counts as milk. There was no minibar either, only an empty fridge.

Our room was very nice and spacious, and housekeeping was prompt and thorough. We’ll be back. Nan at check-in has such a kind, polite spirit and made us feel right at home. In the restaurant, Ms. Yvonne was hands down the best hostess and greeter we’ve ever encountered. Her lively energy lit up the whole space and made us feel like the most important guests there. She’s professional, genuinely exciting, and full of life. The Marriott is lucky to have both her and Nan, who represent five-star hospitality so well. Jeff and Kipp, thank you for your leadership and for making this an experience we’ll always remember.
