Holiday Inn Express San Francisco Union Square by IHG

Union Square and the mall are only a few blocks away, and there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and sights within walking distance. We had a great stay, too. The lobby is modest but welcoming, and the front desk team and housekeepers were friendly and attentive. Our room felt fresh and smelled nice, the beds were comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was spotless. The shower had strong pressure, which I really appreciated. I'd happily stay here again.

For what I paid, the room quality fell short of what I expect from an IHG hotel. The A/C was controlled centrally by the front desk, so I couldn't get the temperature comfortable. That may be why the window was already cracked open when I arrived, and a moth got in. The shade was tattered when I pulled it down. There was also hair in the sink, and the windows barely kept outside noise out. The advertised free amenities weren't much use either: the shaving cream was a tiny generic packet I wouldn't trust on my skin. The property should take another look at its upkeep and amenities.

The staff were so friendly and did extra to make the visit memorable. I found the room comfortable and clean, and the location made it easy to explore the area. I can't wait to come back.

We had the parks, shops, parking, and even the port within walking distance. Everything was clean, though the rooms were small and didn't have a refrigerator. The beds felt a bit dated, and the bathroom's sliding doors didn't lock. We stayed here with our children.
