Holiday Inn Golden Gateway by IHG

For the low price in this area, this was a pleasant surprise and a good choice for my sightseeing trip. It wasn't the most convenient location, but I could get where I wanted to go on foot or by public transit. The front desk was kind and efficient, and my room was a decent size. I did notice that the climate control unit was noisy, though I couldn't hear other guests. It'd be nice to cast from personal devices to the TV.

It's an average place, clean and comfortable, but very busy. There's no microwave in the room, though you can ask to have one brought up. The business center was adequate, and the printer actually worked. The lobby coffee was some of the worst I've had, really sour. The breakfast bar costs a lot extra each day but offers no more than a free hotel breakfast in another city.

Everyone was helpful during my stay, and the staff went out of their way to keep things comfortable and stress-free. Check-in and checkout were friendly, professional, and welcoming. My room was clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing. You can tell they care about their guests. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable place where the staff are accommodating. I'll gladly come back.

The room was clean and breakfast was good. We walked to and from the pier, about 30 minutes each way, and there were plenty of buses nearby. This worked well for us, especially with parking available and breakfast ready in the morning. Even in late May, the evenings were windy and cold. We caught a cold and got sick, so bring an extra layer beyond what you think you'll need.
