The Andrews Hotel

I loved the hotel’s history and romantic atmosphere. There was great music in reception, and an Italian restaurant is attached. The old-fashioned elevator is especially memorable. My room was small, but manageable for one person. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and it’s a great base for seeing the sights. A really good stay.

If you want to feel like you’ve gone back to 1905, this is a great place. It’s clean and cozy, and the service was excellent. Just know the bathrooms are small and can be hard to use if you’re larger. In that case, ask for a room with a bigger bathroom. Highly recommend.

The attached restaurant is really good, and I felt safe during my stay. I’d read older reviews mentioning homeless people in the alleys, but I didn’t see that and it may have been addressed since then. The hotel is downtown, so there’s some nighttime noise, like in any big city. It’s from 1905, which gives the old elevator its charm. The room was clean, large enough, and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom is small and original, and the shower could probably use an update. Breakfast was good enough and free, with bagels, coffee, toast bread, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, and more. Good service and a great location. I’d come back.

We stayed two nights as a couple and thought it was good value. The room and bathroom were both on the small side, but the room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is close to Union Square, and walking around during the day was no problem. We heard some nighttime noise, though the hotel itself was quiet and relaxed. I felt a bit uneasy the first night after reading reviews, but staff were friendly and helpful. Valet parking was about a block away and cost $58 for the stay. The restaurant was very good, and they offered a free drink at check-in. Breakfast was basic grab-and-go with coffee.
