Pullman Plaza Hotel

It’s a good spot for downtown, within walking distance of plenty of places, and the room was good. But there’s no microwave in the rooms, and you basically have to use valet parking, which costs $10 a night. The front desk workers were curt, gave me no directions or details, and seemed annoyed and more focused on people they thought mattered more.

The event we attended went well, and the service was great. Randy at the front desk did his best to address my concerns despite limited staffing. The valet team were wonderful, greeted us when we arrived, and offered a warm cookie when I dropped off my car keys. The room wasn’t cleaned to my standards. The bathroom floor was extremely dirty, though I mopped it and could fix that myself. What I couldn’t fix was the blood on the blanket and bottom sheet, several drops and patches. Randy brought clean bedding, but housekeeping had left and no one was available to change it. He needed two trips to bring all the sheets and a blanket. Since the hotel was full and there were no other rooms, I had to check the bedding for bedbugs, put the old sheets in the hall, and remake the bed myself. The only thing they offered was two cookies. It was disappointing and horrifying. I don’t recommend the hotel. They clearly have a lot to work on.

There were multiple bed bugs, and the place seems fully aware of the infestation. The front desk didn’t seem surprised when I reported finding them. They asked no questions, showed no concern, and offered no help finding another hotel. The Marriott across the street is much cleaner.

The rooms are clean, the hotel is centrally located, and the price is good. Those are the three things that matter most to me, so I can’t be too upset. This hotel is fine if you need somewhere to crash for the night. If you’re staying in Huntington for a week, I’d spend a little more for somewhere nicer. There’s not much attention to detail. The Google summary is wrong about parking, which isn’t free. It’s valet only and costs $10. The water pressure is weak and the toilet paper is thin. Someone left measurements on the wallpaper, presumably from when it was cut. There are what look like plaster or drywall flecks around the bathroom mirror, and although the wallpaper seems very new, it’s been applied poorly and is coming loose in places. The bathroom light flickers a lot when switched on. The AC works very well, but it’s a bit loud and clatters through the night.
