Clarion Inn Hurley

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, so it worked for one night at that price. The parking lot is partly unpaved and full of potholes. Breakfast was a very basic grab-and-go, just coffee, yogurt, bottled water, and a wrapped pastry. Staff seemed friendly at first, but when my TV wasn't working, nobody came to check it. I was eventually told to use the buttons on the side to change channels and that nothing else could be done.

The room had clearly been used for smoking before, and the smell was still there despite being marked non-smoking. There was brown, tar-like residue around the room, and the toilet wasn't properly clean, with hairs left behind. We did get a good shower, with strong pressure and a shower head high enough for a tall person. My wife also found a towel with its inspection sticker still attached, so it probably hadn't been washed. Getting checked in was confusing because the new desk area was under construction. The parking lot looked badly damaged. We used the back entrance by the first-floor parking, guest door #6, which had no lock. Our room was two doors down, and it didn't feel safe. The old Econo-Lodge is being turned into a Clarion, but I wouldn't recommend staying there. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

It's an old place, but they keep the rooms clean. The shower had good flow, and the room temperature was easy to control. For a bargain price, getting a room without any smell, plus soft pillows and comfy bedding, made me very happy. I've paid four times as much elsewhere and enjoyed those stays half as much.

The bathroom floor was sticky, there was hair on the shower curtain, and soap scum covered the shower. It looked like it had only gotten a quick wipe for months. Housekeeping seemed to care more about knocking on every door down the hall at 8:15 in the morning and yelling “HOUSEKEEPING!!” than actually cleaning. The standards were awful. Don't stay here.
