Shilo Inn Suites - Idaho Falls

The young man on the night shift was fantastic, and check-in went pleasantly. The problem came after our stay: we stripped the bedding as a courtesy to housekeeping and found a large dried body fluid stain on the sheet where we had slept for two nights. I told the front desk. The man helping us said he was the manager, showed no concern, shrugged, and said, “Sorry, they must have missed it.” Then he quickly asked for my room number. I only realized later that he was closing out my reservation, which made it harder to seek any compensation. I hadn’t planned to ask for any at first, but his response changed that. That manager’s attitude was disgusting. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

It’s handy to have a couple of restaurants and other hotels nearby. Still, the place feels rundown and isn’t maintained well. The rooms are dark and dated, with spider webs in a ceiling corner. There’s no room service, and they don’t make the bed or bring fresh towels.

The hot breakfast was fresh and served at the table, and the staff were out of this world. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, too. We stayed at the Shilo on the way to the Tetons, liked it so much that we returned on the way back. It reminded us of hospitality in the late 80s. Fabulous, and we’ll come back whenever we’re nearby.

We never stayed there. When we checked into the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls on 9/19, the room was unclean, unprepared, and felt unsafe for my family. I showed photos at the front desk right away, and the staff member promised a refund. My daughters and I went back to the desk because the room was filthy, smelled bad, and the bed wasn’t made. They were so uncomfortable that we left immediately. The clerk said he would cancel the reservation and refund me, but couldn’t give me a receipt because I’d booked through the hotel app. Weeks later, the money still hadn’t come back. I called several times and asked to speak with the manager, Kirk, but he wouldn’t return my calls. I also had another Shilo manager email him for me. When he finally called back, he hung up instead of letting me speak. I’m very disappointed with how this has been handled. I’m giving him one final chance to resolve it. If the refund isn’t issued within 2 business days, I’ll file formal complaints with the Idaho Attorney General’s Office and the Better Business Bureau. Keeping my money when I didn’t stay feels like fraud. The lack of professionalism, customer service, and accountability is shocking. I expect this handled promptly, and would caution anyone considering this hotel about the dirty rooms and empty promises. 10/22/25
