Quiet Creek Inn

We loved sitting on the private deck at cabin #7 at the Quiet Creek Inn, watching the stars and the wildlife. Strawberry Creek winds through the grounds and makes for a lovely walk. The barn lounge has a big DVD collection, with movies you can take back to watch in your cabin. Our cabin was warm, quiet, and cozy, with a fireplace, rocking chair, small fridge, and microwave. The staff and hosts were friendly, and town was only about half a mile away on foot. After a long weekend of hiking and eating around town, we're already planning another visit.

Our kids were busy for hours exploring along the creek, playing in the barn, and spotting all the rabbits and squirrels. Over the winter holidays, Mark and Nathan even brought fresh-baked cookies to the door each night. They're both kind and helpful, and have made a lot of great improvements since taking over the Quiet Creek Inn. We've stayed here for years, and the cabins now have lovely touches like incredibly soft sheets, new mattresses and couches, and other high-end items. They're also set up well for family meals, with mini-fridges, hot plates, a microwave, toaster, dishes, and pans for simple cooking. Whether you're after a romantic break or a family trip in the Southern California mountains, this is the place for us.

Sitting by the creek in the chairs and having something to eat and drink became our favorite part of this relaxing one-night escape from our hectic life in San Diego. The creek was too small to see from our room, perhaps because it was summer. Nathan was kind and informative, and the cabin was comfortable. I love the pine scent in Idyllwild, and the inn is close to the town center, though I'd drive or maybe bike rather than walk. We hiked the Summit trail near Quiet Creek Inn, between the Nature Center and the trailer park. For the hike, I'd start from the south point so you don't have to deal with the Nature Center's 4PM lot closure or its $4 per person fee.

Adam helped us sort out the limited parking when we arrived with our cargo trailer. His suggestion worked perfectly, and he even found the last of the peanuts so our daughter could feed the squirrels from our deck. We came from Northern Indiana because my husband was putting on their inter company fishing tournament at Lake Hemet. The grounds were beautiful, the staff accommodating, and the cabin was clean and just right for us.
