The Fireside Inn

A booklet with house guidelines and one clear contact number would have helped, ideally with someone on site. There was nobody there, several numbers to call, and guests even mistook us for the manager. Maintenance needs attention too: we found black mold and mouse droppings, and the shower wall coating was peeling. The place is cute, quiet, and well located, and the bedding was good, but it needs better upkeep. In response to FSI, the photos of the property show that no damage was done. We borrowed a vacuum and returned it promptly to the housekeepers both times, first to clean the unit when we arrived and again to keep it maintained.

We could enjoy a few festivities in Idyllwild because town was close enough, but the cabin itself felt quiet and romantic. Watching the sunset over the pines from the hot tub and waking up to sunlight and nature sounds through the bedroom picture window were highlights. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Summer Solstice cabin, owned by the Fireside Inn, and loved it. The setting and cabin are gorgeous, even better than the pictures. We both wished we’d booked a whole week instead of just the weekend. Highly recommend!

Having two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a real fireplace for around $140 felt like a steal to us. There’s a nice little seating area outside, and it’s an easy walk into town. We handled check-in and check-out by phone. We stay in Idyllwild a lot and have tried places all over, but some of our usual spots got expensive enough that we started looking elsewhere. We’re very glad we found this place. We’ll be back, and it’ll probably become our new go-to.

Cozy mountain cabins in the heart of Idyllwild, and that fireplace really makes the place. We’ll definitely come back.
