Comfort Inn Independence - Cleveland

There are a couple of good places nearby, and the location is nice. The service was awful, though. My room’s TV didn’t work, so I went to the desk. The guy was reasonably nice, but after a long story I ended up in a less nice room. At least I could watch the game there. In the morning I asked for a late checkout and was told someone was coming in early for that exact room. Nobody was even in the parking lot. I hadn’t gotten the room I booked, and they wouldn’t give me one extra hour. They need to fix a lot of issues.

The front desk staff were nice, and the bed was comfortable, but the room needs remodeling. It was dated and smelled bad enough that we bought our own air freshener. The bathroom towel rack was missing, the walls and ceiling were dirty, and the tub was rusty and leaking. All the lampshades were cracked and dirty too. Internet barely worked most of the time, and breakfast was average. The room also wouldn’t be cleaned without 24 hours’ notice, which is wrong. I’ll be writing to corporate.

The room and bathroom were clean, but the tub drained so slowly that water collected in it. The bigger problem was the blackout curtains: they were basically decorative and didn’t cover the windows. With only a sheer curtain, the bright parking lot lights came right through.

The pool was closed for maintenance, but we were only in town for one business night, so it wasn’t a big deal. Our first room was bad, though the man at the front desk quickly moved us to a much better one and was very apologetic and concerned about us. The new room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked great, which we appreciated. We slept well. Thanks for the kind hospitality.
