I picked this place after seeing reviews and noticing it on other drives up 395. I was in town for the Owens Lake Bird Festival pit in by the Friends of the Inyo. My little cabin was clean and comfy, with thoughtful touches like chilled wineglasses in the mini fridge. I didn’t use them, but it was nice of them to think of it. The cabins sit far enough back from the highway to be quiet, and the property has a great view.

It has a nice rural feel in this small town, and parking right under a tree in front of your room is really convenient. The usual items were there, and the host was quick to respond to questions and messages. Food is the drawback: there aren’t breakfast places open early, and dinner came down to one choice, which we didn’t like.

The owners have clearly put a lot of care into these charming little cabins. They’re spotless, with a well-stocked kitchen, quality linens, and a gorgeous outdoor area. You can hear the 395 nearby, but the double-paned windows and small AC units help cut the road noise, and the AC gives off plenty of white noise. I’d happily stay again when hiking around here.

Doug & Lauralyn were wonderful hosts. After seven days on the NOBO JMT through hike, I stayed just one night, 9/14/25. The room was very clean and practical, breakfast outside under the trees was fantastic, and they did my laundry too.

We stopped for a quick night’s sleep while driving to Mammoth, and liked the look of the place as soon as we arrived. It’s a small, simple cabin with plenty of charming little touches. Nothing fancy, but we loved it.
