Independence Courthouse Motel

The mountain views and the chairs outside each room made it easy to enjoy being outdoors. The owners are friendly and know the local community well, so they can point you toward places to eat and other services in this tiny one-stoplight town. The rooms are simple, quiet, clean, and the motel has a quaint feel. It’s an easy drive to outdoor activities, making this a good base for skiing or hiking, or just a quiet retreat.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. It was a good place to stay, and the price didn’t feel inflated like at the big chain hotels. Thanks to this court house hotel.

The grounds were well kept and our room was clean. We arrived early after coming off the JMT, and she welcomed us warmly, letting us relax in the shaded outdoor seating area. When she came back, she brought us water, fruit, and cookies. They also got our room ready ahead of schedule so we could move in early. Later, while we were having dinner at one of the shaded tables, she stopped to chat and brought us two cold beers.

Even though we arrived late, the owner walked us to our room and brought water and a bowl of fruit. She also recommended a shop with homemade ice cream, though it was too late for us to go. It’s a quaint motel with lots of personal touches you don’t get at a chain.
