My Place Hotel - Kansas City East/Independence, MO

The pet area had dog poop everywhere, and the kitchenette didn’t even have eating utensils, let alone cooking utensils. The refrigerator hummed all night and the bathroom fan was noisy. The place is run down and needs an upgrade. There are other options, so I’d skip this one.

For an “Economy Extended Stay” hotel, it’s a good stop for people traveling through. My single queen bed was really comfortable, and the room had a kitchenette and a recliner to lounge in. It was spotless, the staff were great, and the stay was super quiet.

The room had lots of amenities, and everything was very clean. The staff were great too. Breakfast is the one weak spot: it isn’t included, and what they sell is just a frozen sandwich with a side such as fruit or a Pop-Tart, plus a drink. In my opinion that’s not enough if you need a proper breakfast before something like a sports competition.

I was moving across the country through Kansas City when my car broke down, and Jodie at the front desk was incredibly understanding. She answered all my questions about the hotel’s surveillance and security since my car was packed with things, and let me extend my stay in the room so I could make sure the car was okay to drive. The staff I met were kind, and the hotel is close to lots of restaurants with shade wherever you park. I’d been skeptical because of the area and online ratings, but the hotel was very clean and well kept. The rooms were nice, with very comfortable beds, soft towels, an ice maker, a sink with dish soap, and a stove.
