After the first night, I had to move rooms because I got no sleep with the little refrigerator humming and the upstairs occupant moving furniture, opening cabinets, and stomping around from midnight to 4am. The second day there was no milk or juice, so I skipped breakfast. The breakfast is a joke: five pieces of toast, butter and jelly, raisin bran, Frosted Flakes, two instant oatmeals, waffles made with really thin batter, yogurt, apples, and a small fruit cup. They charged me 50 cents for conditioner in a little to-go container. No one was at the desk, and they don’t answer the phone. Avoid if you can, spend more and stay somewhere else. Check-in took time because of technical difficulties. The room smelled funky and stale, with a slight cigarette smell, and the chair in the corner was badly stained. I pulled down the blanket and bedspread and used my own blanket because I couldn’t trust that theirs had been washed. The room seemed somewhat clean but definitely wasn’t updated, with old drapes and carpet. For $65 a night with tax, I thought I couldn’t complain. The bed seemed comfortable enough.

We booked this place for a trip but left without staying because of several glaring problems. The hallway was covered in trash and reeked of weed and cigarettes. The air conditioning was clearly broken, and our room wasn’t clean when we arrived. The kind receptionist who got us a refund was the only redeeming part.

Our rooms weren’t ready when we arrived because staff had walked out. The clerk on duty was hospitable and gracious in a very difficult situation. While covering the desk, she helped clean rooms and get breakfast items stocked. She went above and beyond, and management should be proud of how well she represented the property. I didn’t catch her name, but she was amazing.

The guy at the front desk was very nice and apologized, but one person working here was good and two were absolutely rude and horrible. After we’d been in our room for just three minutes, at 6:30pm, someone called saying they didn’t work there. My wife answered, and the woman cursed her out for being too noisy. I went down to report it and asked to switch rooms. The caller came over, started an argument, called us liars, and denied working there while standing behind the desk. The guy said the two women were Cici and Nicole, and apparently they both work there, though one wouldn’t admit it. I ended up booking a room down the street. Choose any hotel in Independence besides this one. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had.
