Courtyard Indianapolis Castleton

We were underwhelmed and wouldn’t recommend staying here. Check-in took about 10-15 minutes, and the employees wore very casual clothes that looked like sleepwear, with no Marriott name tags or other identification. I thought they were guests at first. The room was clean but worn, and didn’t feel up to Marriott standards. The walls were so thin we heard our neighbors all night. The elevator was old, small, and slow.

Across our three-day stay, maid service was never offered or available, even though we asked each day and were told it would happen. Towels and washcloths were never replaced, so after late nights we had to get them from the front desk. The floor beneath the sofa sleeper was very dirty, and the shower had mold and a loose bracket. The entry door near our room was out of service the whole time. Both the second-floor ice machine and the third-floor machine it directed us to were broken. One morning there was a fire alarm test, and the manager seemed as surprised as we were. He had no clear plan and told us to ignore any further alarms. As a safety professional, I asked how we’d know if we had to evacuate. He sarcastically said to watch for staff running through the halls screaming. The whole experience fell far short of what I expect from any Marriott brand for service, cleanliness, professionalism, attention to detail, and safety. I understand the property recently shifted from corporate operation to a franchise, eliminated the management team, and replaced it with one person who wasn’t friendly, informed, or helpful. I hope Marriott pushes for improvements, takes it back, or removes it from its portfolio. The location seems to be declining fast, and I recommend staying elsewhere.

Jaswant checked me in courteously and made sure everything went smoothly. The rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating too, and I felt valued as a guest. The property was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made for a very pleasant stay. I highly recommend it and will stay here again on my next visit.

The pool was cold, and the staff didn’t know how to heat it. There’s no free breakfast either. I’m completely upset that I chose this hotel for the pool and couldn’t swim. Worst vacation ever, and the worst Marriott I’ve stayed at. Never again. I’ll stick with the Fairfield on 21st shadeland. I’m literally at the pool right now.
