La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Irvine Spectrum

The room was very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed, and breakfast was very good. Considering how old the hotel is, it was surprisingly well kept. The location worked perfectly for us, just 10 minutes from family. We stayed in the silo area, with train tracks right outside the window. We liked the train noise, though I know not everyone would. The hotel’s appearance was a little intimidating, but I’d stay again.

The only part of check-in I can praise is that the staff were helpful and got us through quickly. The room was in bad shape, stained throughout, and badly in need of an update. We weren’t in the “main building”; our building was a hideous grey concrete structure with old, disgusting-looking windows. Trains passed more than once an hour, so loudly it felt like we were standing outside beside them. Breakfast was sparse: bread, cereal, a waffle maker, and fruit that didn’t look very good, with no scrambled eggs or breakfast meat. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it, even for a cheap stay.

The front desk staff were super friendly, and the room in the back building was nice and very quiet. That building looks like an old concrete industrial factory. Breakfast was convenient, with fruit, cereal, yogurt, bagels, and more. For the value, this is a really cool hotel. Thanks, I’ll try it again.

The room was a mess from the start: there was a red substance, like hot sauce, spilled over the comforter. The bed was broken and made a lot of noise, the TV didn’t work, the shower wouldn’t drain, and the internet was the worst I’ve experienced. A horrible stay, especially in such a nice area. Don’t stay here.
