The room was cozy, nice, and cool, and my wife and I had a lovely time there on our summer weekends. The customer service really stood out, too. I haven't met anyone with more charisma and spunk. We’re planning to come back for more weekends and see the improvements. I learned not to judge a book by its cover. Four stars, definitely.

Save your money. We had booked ahead for a cross-country road trip without seeing the place in person. The photos showed a lovely pool and an on-site restaurant, but the pool wasn't being operated because the owner said it cost too much, and the restaurant had shut down during COVID. Half the motel seemed abandoned, with transients the owner had hired as staff. The owner seemed too cheap to pay regular staff and was hiring homeless people off the street. The motel was barely operating and the rooms were filthy. Our linens had been used and not washed, and there were no towels or soap. When we asked for towels, the employee disappeared for 20 minutes and came back with stained ones that looked like they had been folded from dirty laundry.

I was meant to stay four days, but checked out after one. I only stayed that first night because I was too tired to drive elsewhere, and I never felt safe. The parking lot hadn't been plowed, buckets marked “Waste” were catching water from the leaking ceiling by the front desk, and there was no soap or trash can in the room. The door chains were broken, so only one door could be used, and the doors looked as if someone had pried them open. I travel for work and have stayed in plenty of places, but this was one of the worst. The front desk person didn't answer the phone, which sat charging at the desk while he was in his living quarters. The posted photos didn't match the hotel. There was no breakfast because he didn't get up to serve it or answer calls. Horrible.

I couldn't even rate the room because computer and key-card reader problems meant they couldn't check me in, even while I was there. I booked through a site, but the pictures were misleading. The front desk people were nice enough to find me a room at the motel down the street at their expense, though they still kept my money. I could have found a better place myself. From the road, it looked like a motel, not a hotel, and people sitting out front catcalled me. I didn't feel safe. Inside, there was a strong wet-smoke smell.

The room was damp and smelled strongly of cigarettes. In just a few minutes we felt wet. It was dingy, and didn't have toilet paper, a garbage can, or soap. They eventually brought the toilet paper and garbage can, but never the soap. The bathroom fan was so loud it sounded as if it might fall through the ceiling. We waited about 40 minutes for someone to come check us in, despite calling several times. When someone finally showed up, they said they'd be back in five minutes, then took over half an hour. A car in the lot had a smashed window, glass scattered on the ground, and wires hanging out as if someone had tried to hotwire it. They said breakfast was available, but nothing was out in the morning, and the employee said it was only cereal, coffee, and toast anyway. The customer service was awful.
