Homewood Suites by Hilton Jackson

Downtown shops and restaurants were easy to reach on foot from the Homewood Suites by Hilton Jackson, right in the heart of Jackson. Our trip began with some problems the hotel couldn’t control, but general manager Guillaume went above and beyond to sort things out. It was clear that he and the staff care about guests and stand behind their service. We left on a very positive note after a rough start, and would stay here again next time we’re in Jackson.

The hotel is quiet and relaxing, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s right where we wanted to be, with the town square within walking distance. The staff were friendly, and we’ll stay here again on our next trip back.

The location was great, but that was about the only real plus. The rooms are fine for one night, and service was just so-so. Nobody recognized my Diamond status or benefits. The so-called fitness center is basically a closet off the pool with a Peloton, a treadmill, and dumbbells up to 20 lbs. Breakfast is listed as 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., which doesn’t help if you need to leave before 7. We came back at 10:30 and it was already closed. I had a two-night reservation for next week, but canceled and booked elsewhere.

We could walk to downtown shops and restaurants, and the location was handy for seeing the Tetons and Yellowstone. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, but the room was dated and not especially clean. The hotel says it was renovated, though I didn’t see any sign of that. Be careful when booking: I was sent to Jackson, Mississippi and ended up reserving there.
