SpringHill Suites by Marriott Jackson

The rooms are modern and it was quiet. The gym is pretty basic, with a bench, dumbbells, treadmills and a stair climber. I wish they had a cable machine. The location felt good and safe, and I was really happy with my stay. I spend a lot of time in hotels, usually Marriott brands, and I thought this was better than Residence Inn and Fairfield. I’d stay again.

The bed was noticeably more comfortable than the $1.4M Airbnb we stayed in for the following six days. I was lucky enough to watch my parked car from the room window without getting out of bed, and we made a funny video of it that I’ll include. The place is right by I40, but with the window HVAC running, it drowned out pretty much all the traffic noise. It was next to the bed, which is perfect if you sleep cold. We stayed one night on the way to the Smoky Mountains and found this a great value compared with staying in a bigger city like Nashville. The modern room design and layout were new and we loved them. The location is secluded enough to feel good about vehicle safety, yet shops, dining and other amenities are close, even within walking distance. Breakfast was decent, with a fair selection, about like most complimentary breakfasts. The staff were friendly and helpful. I don’t usually leave hotel reviews, but I enjoyed this stay and have no complaints. I’d come back.

There were fleas on my bed! After driving a long way from Louisville, Kentucky, on my way to California, I lay down on bright white sheets that looked clean. Then I saw two fleas hopping around. It was about 12:30 at night and I was leaving at 5 AM, so against my better judgment I took the sheets off and shook them out. When I left, I told the front desk, then called the hotel around 10 AM. I didn’t know what response to expect, but I was a bit shocked to hear, “Sorry about that, thank you for letting us know. I will inform Housekeeping.” Any comments?

The front desk and breakfast staff were great, and breakfast was good. At first glance the room looked fine, but the tables seemed unwiped, the chair needed wiping and the couch could use a cleaning. The bathroom was clean and the beds were clean, but the bathroom door was broken and the panel covering the fridge wouldn’t close. Because of the service, clean bathroom and beds, I’d still be willing to give them another try.
