Best Western Plus Jacksonville West

The location is a plus, with various stores and restaurants within walking or driving distance. Our room met expectations, though it was odd to find plenty of hangers but no rack to hang clothes on. All the staff were very nice during our pleasant stay before the Big Vaycay. I enjoyed meeting Donna and chatting with her while she checked the grounds.

The lobby where you register was quite impressive, but the rooms don’t compare. They felt a little dingy and dirty, and the carpet felt a bit squishy. The bath towels were frayed, thin, and the smallest I’ve ever tried to use.

I won’t stay here again. The toilet was stopped up before I used it, and the sink was clogged too. After maintenance supposedly fixed the plumbing, I came back to find myself locked out because they’d gone into my room. The front desk woman on the Friday and Saturday morning/day shifts hadn’t known this when I first returned. She swiped my card, and it worked, but then I had to repeat the trip up in the elevator, which seemed to move only every 30 minutes. Housekeeping had also tried and failed to let me in. Later, after breakfast, I got locked out again while carrying coffee. Back downstairs, she just swiped the card without saying anything, and I rode the slow elevator up once more to pack and check out. I’d had to get a plunger from housekeeping to fix the toilet myself. The woman was unprofessional, and I don’t understand why people in hospitality aren’t hospitable or know how to act professionally with guests.

The parking lot was pretty small, with several large trucks taking up space, but check-in went smoothly and the staff were welcoming. The lobby was nice, and the pool area looked great. Our room was clean and comfortable. The AC needs some attention because the air smelled damp. It was June in Florida, so I understand it’s hot and humid, and I expect they’ll check and tune up the unit. It was a pleasant stay overall, and we’ll be back.
