Fairfield Inn & Suites Jacksonville Airport

Check-out was quick, and once we got to the desk our prepaid room check-in took no time, but we had to wait in a long line for about 20 minutes first. The room smelled odd, though the beds were comfortable and everything worked. There was a convention in the hotel, so the hallways and rooms were noisy, with loud conversations. Breakfast was basic and below the usual Fairfield standard on the first morning. We got there early on day two, but there were no napkins and not much to choose from, so we ate breakfast elsewhere both days.

The shuttle took about 10 minutes to arrive after we called for pickup, and the driver was great. We needed just one night near the airport, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, breakfast was included, and several restaurants were an easy five-minute walk away.

The metal frame around the whole bed is what makes this hotel work so well for traveling with pets. My cat can't crawl underneath and hide when it's time to check out, which has been a hassle at other so-called pet-friendly hotels. I've had to block open spaces with pillows, luggage, or furniture, or shut my cat in the bathroom. If a pet gets under a bed with gaps, getting them out can mean taking the whole thing apart. Since you're paying extra to bring a pet, the room should be designed with them in mind. This one has a solid metal base, and that alone is why I'll stay here when I'm passing through with my cat. I don't know whether every property has the same beds, but this one certainly does.

The mobile key was convenient, though it could be a bit finicky. The hotel is starting to look its age, but it seems like a remodel is underway. We enjoyed our stay, and it's a good choice for a quick night when you have an early or late flight.
