The rooms are older, but still nice, and there’s a little bar and restaurant plus a hot breakfast. I like staying here when I’m in town. What really stands out is the staff. They all seem to enjoy working here and are great people. Special thanks to Renea at the front desk. I know I probably spelled her name wrong, but she has a good heart and CPH is lucky to have her.
We came as a group of several families, and the stay had one problem after another. The Saturday morning staff member, Hunter, was much more courteous and helpful, and we appreciated that. Friday evening staff were unprofessional, which made an already frustrating situation worse. There were also safety and upkeep concerns around the property: poor lighting in the basement parking garage, an elevator connected to the garage filled with smoke, and exposed electrical wiring on the handicap pool lift. In the rooms, wallpaper was peeling and one room had black mold around a vent. Several rooms had no working A/C. We heard that more than one family had this issue, and one bought a fan for the trip. Our room was so hot that we had to leave the window open all night and listen to constant traffic. The hotel said it had run out of linens for our pullout sofa, so we had to supply our own bedding. Another family also got no linens for their pullout furniture. One room had a lot of stains, including a significant amount of blood. When the family reported it, they were told they couldn't move because of staffing and room shortages. Another family found body hair in the shower and sheets still on the pullout sofa bed when they arrived, which raised serious concerns about cleanliness. A separate family was given a two queen room that had apparently been promised to someone else, leaving two adults, a teenager, and an 11 year old to share one bed. Another family arrived with a confirmed, paid reservation and was turned away to find somewhere else because the hotel said it was fully booked. I'm sure we missed some things, but based on all this, this hotel shouldn't be on your list.
This was my second bad experience here, so I won't be back. We booked a handicap accessible room for two nights because my wife is temporarily in a wheelchair and can't walk. Room 521 was tucked in a corner far from the atrium and the elevator, which meant a long push in the wheelchair. It was so cold, and the temperature control only seemed to offer cold or off. The chair wouldn't fit between the bed and the wall. The hotel is extremely dated, and although we booked two nights, we left after the first. The parking lot and the inside of the hotel both looked nearly empty.
I've been coming here for conferences and staying at the hotel for more than a decade. The staff have always been lovely to work with, and check-in, breakfast, and conference meals have been easy and hospitable. But the rooms are deteriorating quickly, and I don't plan to stay here anymore. I can't get past the mold in the ceiling cracks, the heavy chair stains, and the carpet rattling. It used to be a beautiful hotel, and I hope they renovate soon.
The room was roomy and very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The shower stayed hot, though the water pressure was low and the bathroom felt dated. There was no fridge, and the flat-screen TV was tiny. I don't book a room to watch TV, but a 50-inch screen or bigger would be nice. The shower and old-fashioned feel took a star off. The place has a classy vibe, and I don't often see an in-house restaurant at hotels. I got there too late to try it, but the bar was happy to accommodate me. Linda did a good job and definitely helped my rating. The staff were pleasant and I had a good stay overall. For the price, I'd stay again if I needed to.
