Super 8 by Wyndham Jefferson

The breakfast was a bruised banana, a very old toaster, expired milk, and coffee that tasted like cigarette ash and sadness. My “non-smoking” room smelled strongly of Marlboro, the sheets were stained, and the air conditioner sounded like a lawnmower on its last legs. I was also pretty sure the carpet was alive and plotting, and I may have left with a mild rash. Getting into the room took three hard kicks at the door. The key card looked as though a raccoon had chewed it, and the clerk seemed like he’d rather be anywhere else, maybe prison or Mars. The lobby had a smell of damp carpet, burnt coffee, and despair. From the moment I entered the Super 8, it felt like a time trip to 1983, minus the fun. I did at least get an unforgettable story out of it. If you want to spend your stay questioning your life choices until dawn, the Super 8 is calling.

The service felt off, and the staff didn’t seem to care. The apple juice was rotten, with things floating in it, and I’m now dealing with nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. I woke up with a huge rash on my face and chest; my friend was the one who first noticed how red my face was. When I asked the person cleaning what they used on the sheets, they said a company’s carpet cleaner. The shower curtain also had red stains that were hard to identify. Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this place or bring kids here. It needs to be shut down.

A clean, simple room, and the breakfast was sparse. For what I paid, though, it was reasonable.

The room fridge was full of cockroaches, and I spotted two more on the wall as soon as I arrived. I checked out right away. The clerk at the front desk didn’t seem surprised at all, which made the situation feel even worse, though he did refund me. Do yourself a favor and avoid staying here. I tried to book the casino instead, but unfortunately it was full.
