The Steamboat Inn

We took a two-night break in Jefferson during a long holiday trip and booked the Steamboat Inn at the last minute. It turned out to be a wonderful choice, just a few minutes’ walk from the charming town. The room was cozy, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The hosts were warm and welcoming. One evening, David, the innkeeper, shared fascinating stories with us as we sat by the fire, which made the visit feel personal and memorable. There were thoughtful treats around the inn, including plenty of coffee, wine, and warm cookies. The holiday decorations were beautiful, and Alex told us the meaningful story behind the handmade ornaments from Ukraine. Despite the hardships there, he’s committed to supporting the community and takes real pride in the artisans’ craftsmanship. We enjoyed our visit and hope to return in spring or fall to see Caddo Lake. We’d choose the Steamboat Inn again and highly recommend it to people visiting the area.

The breakfast was lovely, and I especially appreciated that they listened to our request and made a small, simple meal just for us. The owners and caretaker were warm, positive, and easy to approach. Inside, especially in the room, the place was even more impressive than it looked from the road. The thoughtful decor seemed designed with guests’ comfort in mind. It’s one of the best places I’ve stayed in the U.S. If you’re around Caddo Lake and haven’t booked yet, I highly recommend it. I’m sure you’ll be pleased.

The place is right in the heart of Jefferson, with shops just a short walk away. Lana and Alex have thought of so many traveler-friendly touches, from two bottles of water in the room to a fire outside on cold nights, and they welcome pets. Breakfast coffee and banana muffins were delicious. The accommodations are lovingly decorated and artistic, unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed. The hosts are so wonderful that you really have to experience their warmth for yourself. It was simply the best experience in the world.

My mother and I had a wonderful two-night stay, and we felt like part of a little family after meeting some of the other guests. Lana and David, the innkeeper, both have such beautiful souls. Breakfast was wonderful, and downtown is literally a four-minute walk away. Cookie dough, the kitty who has made his home at the Steamboat Inn, was fun to play with outside by the fire pit. The beds were so comfortable. We really enjoyed our time and will be back next year!
