Parking is really difficult to find, and that’s the one thing that would keep me from settling here. Otherwise, the neighborhood felt safer and livelier than any other we’ve visited. When it rains, the skyline views are incredible. There are walkable streets, rooftops, Starbucks, bars, Indian, Chinese, and Italian restaurants, double rainbows, great sunsets 🌅, farmers markets, and festivals now and then. There’s so much around: skyscrapers, helicopters, boats, ships, cruisers, jets, and planes. PATH is close, Exchange Place is walkable, and there are healthy food markets, grocery stores, party spots, and medical shops. I could go on forever.
The location is convenient, and I’ve managed to make the most of my time here, but the apartment itself has been far from satisfying. It’s very noisy next to the traffic circle. Some staff are friendly, though certain managers are difficult to deal with. Communication is hard, there’s no flexibility, and they often make you feel like they’re looking for trouble. We’ve had constant unit problems and call maintenance almost every other week. The bathroom leaked and had pump problems twice, leaving us in a smelly room for a week. There was no compensation for damaged items. The dishwasher has clogged twice as well. If you have other options, please consider them.
We’ve been in our unrenovated 1BR for four years and renewed the lease twice. We actually like the older cabinets, parquet floors, and bathroom, so we’ll probably stay until our next move. The building has its quirks, but it’s one of the few reasonably priced high rises around, with a pool, a gym, and lovely staff. Tiaise, Brianna, Naim, Darrel, Rich, and Shawn are especially friendly, helpful, and focused on their work. I work from home, so Tiaise and Brianna are often the only people I talk with in person, and thank god for them. They go above and beyond, make us feel at home, love on our dog, handle packages, and sort out issues quickly. Management sometimes needs a few follow-ups to finish a maintenance request, but the repair guys are competent and happy to help. I’ve seen negative reviews that don’t reflect the whole picture. Every city building has problems, but for us the good outweighs the bad, and we have no plans to move.
After four years here, I hoped things would end on a good note, but the move-out process turned ugly. Management tracked every click I made on DocuSign and pressured me to sign while I still had concerns. Their tone throughout was condescending and punitive. When I asked about extra costs at the very beginning, why didn’t they tell me then? Instead, at the last minute, I was told I’d have to forfeit my entire deposit and give up money I rightfully deserve.
The location has been ideal for me: Grove Street PATH is right across the street, Newark Ave is a block away, and the waterfront is a seven-minute walk. I’ve lived here for five years and loved every minute. The building is well kept, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. New ownership has taken over, but the good service hasn’t changed. They’re renovating the apartments now, and I’m looking forward to the improvements.
