Sonesta Simply Suites Jersey City

The train runs right beside the building, and if you get a room on that side, the noise can be very noticeable and may interrupt your sleep. There’s no breakfast either, and the front desk service wasn’t helpful. I’ve stayed with Sonesta for years, but this was the first time I’ve been this disappointed. The parking fee of $30 per night wasn’t clearly shown anywhere while I was booking. That felt like a hidden fee. I wouldn’t have minded paying $10, but charging $30 when guests have practically no choice but to park at the hotel seems excessive and misleading. It’s unrealistic to expect people checking in overnight to drive around looking for street parking. If the fee had been disclosed clearly, I could’ve considered it before booking, especially since I’d seen other hotels with better views and competitive prices. For anyone considering this location, check every possible extra fee before confirming. This didn’t live up to what I expected from a brand I’d trusted for years.

We’d stay here again for NYC. The staff were really friendly, check-in was quick, and they were attentive during our stay. It’s pet-friendly and good value, too. Our suite was spacious, clean, modern, and had comfy beds plus a full kitchenette with a fridge, stove, and microwave, handy for a longer stay. The Jersey City financial district location was convenient, with PATH trains a short walk away for WTC/Manhattan, ferries to Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, and places to eat and shop nearby. A good budget option instead of Manhattan, with city views. 4 stars.

We only stayed three nights over Thanksgiving, but the place felt really comfortable. The staff were genuinely friendly, and our room was fresh and immaculately clean. The whole facility looked beautiful, from the entrance and front desk to the elevator, hallways, and room. All the rooms are suites, set up for extended stays, with a full-size refrigerator, built-in electric cooktop, cookware, dishes, and flatware. The waterfront location made it easy to leave the car parked and walk to most places. There’s just about anything you could think of within a few minutes on foot, and the PATH and HB Light Rail stations are also nearby. I’d highly recommend Sonesta for a stay in Jersey City.

The room had a neat, different feel, like it might once have been an apartment. Staff were friendly and helpful, and parking was cheap. It’s a good budget stay, with the train to the World Trade Center about a 10-minute walk away. I’d come back.
