In room 319, I found a meth pipe in a drawer while looking for toilet paper. We’d driven eight hours for a work trip covered by my husband’s company card, and the roll left for us was only half used. I demanded that they call the cops and get me the general manager. I’ve never felt so shaken or uncomfortable. It could have been my three-year-old daughter opening that drawer. The front desk guy was disgustingly rude because I interrupted his breakfast and he had to get up and do his job. He repeatedly said the general manager would contact me, but never did. The staff’s handling of this was a joke. Maybe talk to whoever didn’t clean room 319, and tell the front desk guy what professional behavior looks like. I’ve worked at an IHG property at the Grand Canyon for nearly ten years, and things like this don’t “just happen.” Do better.

Staybridge in Johnson City has taken the top spot for our best extended hotel stay. We spent several years ago at a competitor, maybe a Something2 in Lehigh Valley PA, which was basically brand new and excellent. We thought that was the pinnacle until this August 2025 stay. Our room was perfect: comfortable mattresses, plenty of outlets, an ice maker in the fridge, and everything worked. I like ice-cold temperatures, and the room delivered. Marc and Johnathan were fantastic, among the friendliest hotel staff I’ve experienced. Breakfast was excellent, and on weeknights they even had a small social-hour salad-bar setup. Coffee and soda were always available, the pool was well maintained, and when we asked for more towels, we came back “home” to a full bag outside our door. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

The location was great, and the staff were friendly. The pool room was warm and the outside patio was really nice, with a little yard for your animal to run around. They fixed corrosion on my remote batteries right away. Room service didn’t come until the day before checkout. Breakfast hot food wasn’t very desirable, the drink machines had watered-down-tasting juices, and the Coke machine wasn’t stocked.

My husband and I travel for work a lot, and we’ve never had service this horrible. We booked 14 days, including a four-day absence, and the room hadn’t been cleaned at all when we arrived. We accepted their apology and stayed. Then we booked seven more days and specifically asked for a deep clean, including the bathroom, carpet, and sheets. Instead, we got bedbug bites all over and had to rush out. The housekeeping was absolutely disgusting. Run, do not stay here.
