I eventually moved out because the black mold in the closet and bathroom was affecting my family's breathing and health. When I reported it, I was told it was my fault for not keeping the air set all the way down on low and leaving the closet and bathroom doors open to keep those areas from getting humid. I also reported it to Clayton county environmental health, but it didn't seem to help, and I don't think an inspector came out. Water from the AC unit leaked onto the floor, too, and maintenance took repeated calls before coming to fix it. Mary, the manager, was the rudest and most disrespectful hotel manager I've met. She seemed to look for reasons to fine people, including inspecting during lunch and fining you for food or dishes in the kitchen right after you'd cooked. Even food in a closed container in the microwave or on the counter could bring a fine. This place isn't safe for people to live in and should close until the moisture problem is resolved.

They treat you like a criminal and are rude and prejudiced. Staff enter your room even when you're there, whether you're in bed, in or just leaving the bathroom, with your spouse, or getting dressed, and they also come in while you're away. You can't refuse room service or an 'inspection,' or ask them to come back in 10 or 20 minutes. There's no inside lock to stop someone from barging in when you don't want them there. Never stay here!

Everything in the room worked, and for the money it was worth it. The price is good, especially if you book in person, which is cheaper than booking online.

My loved one was killed there on Sunday, Nov 23 25. He was new to the company and working front desk. Why was there no news report when there are videos? Don't stay at that place. If employees aren't safe, you can't expect guests to be. Good luck.

Our nonprofit, Blessing Bags of Warmth, helps Atlanta families and individuals dealing with homelessness or crises. We often help prevent evictions, arrange emergency shelter, and support people without stable housing. Recently, we were called about a client who'd had a medical emergency and been taken to the hospital. We first thought she was at the sister property on Memorial Drive, so we quickly agreed to cover her stay while she recovered. Once we learned she was actually at Live-In Lodge on Tara Boulevard, we called the front desk to explain and say one of our team members was on the way to pay in person. The client, who pays $350 per week, had already been charged a $79 late fee for missing the 11:00 AM payment deadline and was told she'd be evicted by 12:30 PM if the balance wasn't paid. We understand policies, but the call with Emerald was one of the most disrespectful and unprofessional interactions I've had in years of working with extended stay and emergency lodging places. She answered with hostility and no compassion. Her exact words were: “I don't know what kind of deal you have going on at Haven Hotel, but we don't do that s** here at Live In Lodge on Tara! I'm checking them out of the system So they are going to have to step out of their room. They're going to have to repay the deposit if they can't come and pay in the next 5 minutes.” I was stunned by both the language and the disregard for guests who may already be facing hardship. It felt inhumane. The hotel's physical condition is troubling too, with questionable upkeep and a lack of basic security responsiveness. This experience was among the worst we've had with the dozens of extended stay hotels we work with across metro Atlanta. I strongly encourage management to retrain Emerald right away or reconsider her customer-facing role. Guests, especially people in crisis, deserve professional, compassionate treatment, not condescension or verbal abuse. I hope this leads to a deeper discussion of how vulnerable residents are treated and how service can improve.
