Motel 6 Kalamazoo, MI

The motel's management doesn't seem to know what it's doing. Pipes broke twice because they weren't prepared for winter, the heater was broken, and the room door stuck. The card reader wouldn't read the key card. They were told about it but only changed its battery, then shut off the water, only for the pipes to break again. The wiring is bad, and they blamed the power outage on too many things being plugged in. They're unreasonable and need to close until everything is fixed and better management is in place. Even with a third-party booking, payment, and confirmation number, they still tried to charge us again for a room we'd already paid for. I wouldn't recommend this motel to anybody.

The staff are friendly, but the rooms are awful and not as advertised. There was no microwave, mini fridge, or even alarm clock. The wall lights had no bulbs, the tubs were cracked and wouldn't hold water, and the floor had mismatched patches and soft spots. Housekeeping needs to do a better job. I had to clean the tub, and there was only one full roll of toilet paper plus another almost gone. The pillows were flat with no support, the beds were rock hard, and arriving to an ice-cold room with no heat was miserable.

Cockroaches everywhere, vinyl flooring peeling up and screwed down with construction screws, with screw heads sticking up all over. The blinds had quarter-size holes. The bathroom looked as if everything inside, faucets, toilet, tub, and shower curtain, had once been sprayed with white paint. By now it had all yellowed. The door didn't need a key card at all; you could just come and go whenever you wanted. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, but this was the worst place ever. Even at $60 a night, I wouldn't expect much, but this felt lazy and neglected. They barely maintain the place and seem to put none of the income into upkeep. I'll never stay again, and I don't recommend it to anyone unless they're freezing to death, and even then, that's questionable.

I felt unsafe the whole time and wouldn’t recommend this motel to anyone. I’ve stayed in plenty of budget places, but this was easily my worst stay. The room looked untouched for days, with no pillows or blanket. There were also stains that looked like drug residue and little spots of blood on several surfaces. Really disturbing and completely unacceptable. Take your money somewhere else.
