Hilton Garden Inn Kalamazoo

The rooms were quiet and the hotel felt safe, though outside the hotel didn’t feel as safe. I’m pretty sure I saw a security guard inside the morning I left. There’s a pool, fitness area, and restaurant. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and did an excellent job with customer service. There’s a parking garage next door, but it doesn’t say it’s for the hotel, which confused me when I arrived. The hotel itself is very nice.

I arrived quite early, and the front desk employee went out of his way to find an early check-in for me. The rooms are spacious but still cozy, even with the frozen hellscape outside. For my first visit to “The Zoo,” I couldn’t be happier with the service and accommodations at this Hilton property. It’s centrally located and very close to the medical school. I’d highly recommend staying here.

I’m never staying with Hilton again. This whole experience has been terrible, and customer service is horrible. The bathroom wasn’t very clean either, with hairs in the shower and on the floor. I stayed for a conference last month and paid with my tax-exempt work card. I gave the hotel my tax-exempt paperwork a week before check-in and was promised a refund of the taxes when I checked out. A month later, nothing had come through. I’ve called the hotel and the advance payment number they gave me many times. I was repeatedly sent to another number and told they’d fix it. I was promised the refund three separate times, but it never arrived. When I called again after it still hadn’t appeared on the card, I was told they would no longer refund the taxes. I left the hotel manager a voicemail and now have to call back again.

Good Gardenn Inn hotel, with a great, central location that’s hard to beat. I’ll stay there on my next trip in a month and update this with more details.
