Quality Inn

I rarely write hotel reviews, but this place was so bad I had to. I’d give it less than one star if I could. The room’s door handle was broken, so you had to lift it to open and close the door, and the security lock didn’t work. A plug with a USB port had pulled out of the drywall and was hanging loose. The AC started making a scraping noise when I tried to cool the room, switched on and off through the night, then died completely. The walls were thin enough that the TV next door sounded like it was in our room all night. At check-in, the manager was rude and unprofessional. He took our card, handed over the keys and walked off without greeting us or explaining anything about the amenities or breakfast. Later, we couldn’t find anyone to answer a question. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and sausage, but my wife stopped after one bite. The juice machine was broken, and management knew. The bananas were completely brown. Another traveler told us they’d seen cockroaches around the waffle machine the day before, and when they told management, they were threatened with a call to the police if they didn’t stop acting up. I’ve stayed at many Quality Inns as a member of their program, and this was the worst one I’ve seen. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

There are bed bugs, and we found cockroaches in our room. We asked the manager for a refund and checked out early after two nights, but he charged me for five nights total. When I told him the money had been taken and not refunded, he basically said, “It is what it is,” and told me to call the office. I wouldn’t wish this hotel on my worst enemy. Sleep in your car if you have to, absolutely don’t stay here.

The pool was a relaxing part of my stay, though the water was a bit cold. I hope they warm it up more next time. I also spotted a roach trying to hide behind the mirror. I grew up in tough conditions and have seen plenty of roaches, so it wasn’t a huge shock to me, but it still needs attention, especially for guests who are less forgiving. I’m giving the place a second chance, but staff should take more pride in keeping it clean. Lots of hardworking people from different backgrounds keep hotels running, and cleanliness needs to come first. My stay at Quality Inn was mixed, and I hope things improve before my next visit.

We left right away and asked for a refund. The guy at the desk said something like, “Nobody else seems to complain like you.” We ended up at the Marriott and won’t make that mistake again. In the first room, every blanket was dirty and stained, and there were shoe prints on the undersheet. It reeked of cigarette smoke. We’d already seen sketchy people doing drugs in the parking lot when we arrived. After asking for another room, we spotted roaches there too, and a careful look showed mouse droppings all over the second bed. There was also an old beer can behind the nightstand. Why should we pay $100+ to sleep in a filthy room?
