Delta Hotels by Marriott Kalamazoo Conference Center

The room with pool access had mold in a ceiling corner, a draft strong enough to freeze liquid nearby, and a shower that wouldn’t drain. The hot tub was closed, which seems common here, and looked like it had toilet water in it. The pool tile needed a deep clean and the pool needed chemicals. The hotel looks lovely at first, but closer inspection was a letdown. We won’t be back. Don’t waste your money.

The common areas were only 54 degrees, so we ended up feeling stuck in our room. We’d brought the kids hoping to escape the snow and swim, but the pool felt as cold as Lake Michigan in winter. They did get to use the hot tub, at least. Staff told us the boiler was broken and that it cost too much to get someone out over the weekend. We wished we could have made fuller use of the hotel during our weekend.

The room was clean and in good shape, and parking was close. The front desk staff were all courteous and really nice. The big indoor pool and recreation area, which looks like it dates back to when this was a Holidome, would be great for families and kids. There’s also a Marriott Bonvoy Elite Pantry for Platinum members and up to get complimentary snacks and drinks, though the coffee wasn’t replenished during our stay, even after I told the desk. I didn’t expect much after reading the reviews, but the hotel has been remodeled recently. I’d stay again.

Brandy was so friendly when I came down for breakfast, and the steak and eggs were delicious, cooked just right. The rooms were very clean and had everything I needed, including nice toiletries. The Delta is beautiful, smells amazing, and has excellent customer service. Marriot will always be my hotel choice.
