I got in around midnight after driving across Nebraska for several hours, hoping for a comfortable place to sleep before another long day on the road. Room 105 had hair all over the bathroom and yellow drips on the side of one of the two beds. I don't usually complain and might have overlooked the wad of hair on the floor, but not the marks on white sheets. The kiosk representative was pleasant and apologetic, and quickly moved me to room 104. That room smelled of cigarettes and Marijuana, but I thought I could sleep through it. It seemed cleaner, and I fell asleep after settling in. Then my daughter woke me to say there were two bugs on her pillow. I checked them and used a reverse photo search, which identified them as bed bugs. The kiosk worker said the manager would refund me the next day. When I contacted the third party we paid through, there had been no refund, so I called Days Inn customer service. So far they've offered 50%, which I've refused. I'm supposed to hear back tomorrow 5/13/26, and I'll update when I know more.
The room itself seemed clean apart from the lingering smoke and musty smell, which is the only reason I stayed. Now I have to wash all my clothes, whether I wore them or not. The sink leaks, leaving the carpet underneath soaking wet, and I don't know how long it's been that way. The shared restroom was out of order the whole time, the end exterior door was simply broken, and the door security latch was broken too. The stairs smelled dirty and had clumps of dirt, like they hadn't been vacuumed in ages. I wasn't happy to be greeted by a kiosk. The agent was kind and clearly trained, but someone in another state or country can't provide the service a hotel needs, even a bargain one. I told the kiosk attendant about the problems, and they passed it along to the one person working there. She said she handles cleaning, laundry, and maintenance, despite there being more than 60 rooms. Breakfast was just coffee, with no tea, cocoa, or anything else, a few instant oatmeal packets, and some yogurts that had been sitting in the small fridge the whole time. This place feels abandoned by whoever owns it, as though it's just here to make money. It's appalling. If this is how Wyndham treats its staff and properties, I'll likely never stay at one again.
My husband and I were horrified and left for another hotel right away. We'd wanted a quick, cheap stop on the way to Phoenix, so our expectations were low, but the room was covered in poor paint jobs over mold, had bugs under the bed, and was full of old food and grime. The bed frame was broken, and nobody had wiped the sticky mess on the nightstand. Side doors meant to need a key were broken and partly open, so anyone could enter. People smoked in the halls, and awful smells spread through the building. The city public health department had closed the pool. This place should be shut down. Zero stars.
We booked through Priceline for three nights, and the listing promised free breakfast. All they had was a coffee pot, some oatmeal packets, and paper bowls. I asked for a refund for one night because now four of us have to buy breakfast every day, though it was supposed to be included. There was no manager on site, so I had to argue with a virtual assistant. I felt like I was standing there fighting with an ATM. We won't return or stay at Days Inn again.
I went downstairs to cancel and ask for a refund. Thank goodness a person was at the desk, though she looked exhausted. She told me she was the only one working front desk, cleaning, maintenance, and driving the shuttle, and had slept just two hours in the last 24. She called manager Sam Patel, who said to refund me. While I was on the phone with Priceline, she went to clean my room before I'd checked out. My wife and kids were still inside, and because the door latch was missing, she walked right in. My son nearly kicked her, and it terrified my wife. The desk worker apologized, and I don't blame her. I blame Sam Patel and the managers for letting the hotel get this bad. We'd booked the cheapest option even though I knew I shouldn't have. At check-in, there was nobody in the lobby, only a man on a kiosk screen. The smell gave me a headache as soon as I walked in. It was like cheap Dollar Tree spray trying to cover weed and mold or urine smells, just in the lobby. Our so-called suite had pills on the floor, stink bugs on a picture frame, black sticky stuff on the wall, hair in the sheets, carpet stains, and a door latch ripped off the wall. This was after the cleaner had been in, and had left supplies on the sink, so I threw them outside. Our neighbor's big dog barked constantly. I was relieved to get the refund and pay well over $200 extra to stay at the Embassy suites down the street. It felt like a 3rd world country, and that's how the manager ran the business. If you try to live clean, even just on the outside, don't stay here. The moment you pull into the parking lot, you'll cringe. Spend a little extra and go to the embassy suites or another nearby hotel. I went into every one of them that night looking for a room.
