Springhill Suites Kansas City Northeast

The elevator wait was almost comical. It's a five-story building, but the hotel was full and the elevators were painfully slow. I know that's a minor, first-world gripe, but other guests were talking about it too, and it cost the stay a star. There are plenty of upsides: the hotel is a little off the beaten path but still close to downtown, the football and baseball stadiums, North KC, and right across from Worlds and Oceans of Fun. The hotel itself was great, and the staff were kind and courteous. All in all, a good place to stay.

We came for a quick weekend away and had a great room. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the location put us within 15 minutes of everything we came to do. Just right for our trip.

The room smelled awful as soon as I walked in, and I noticed stains when I looked around. I don't know how housekeeping could consider it ready. They moved me, but the second room smelled like urine too. The bathroom's glass sliding doors let all its light spill onto the beds at night. Parking felt a bit sketchy, with people sleeping in tents just across the street. All in all, a pretty poor stay.

We were on the third floor and barely heard anything from upstairs or below. There wasn't the usual door slamming or running in the hall, and the pool area, though small, was clean and not busy when we went. The location was handy off I-435 and close to Worlds of Fun. Breakfast had a good selection each day, and the dining area stayed clean. The beds were VERY firm and uncomfortable for us. Our child slept on the sofa trundle, where we found Worlds of Fun items left behind, so I'm not sure how often they clean under it. The bathroom door didn't close all the way, and its light brightened the room at night, with little privacy so close to the beds. Evening desk staff were often missing, and we had to ring for someone to check in. When she came out, she looked like she'd been asleep. The morning staff were friendly and helpful. A nice option if you want to be near WOF/OOF.
