Hilton President Kansas City

We were in town for a concert, and the hotel's location was fantastic. It's a beautiful historic building, and our room was spacious and clean. It didn't have a fridge, microwave, washcloths, or robes, though the washcloths we asked for arrived very quickly. We had drinks and appetizers at The Drum room; the drinks were great, but the food wasn't. Breakfast had a nice selection and was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they brought extra coffee and tea promptly.

The A/C was out during a wedding reception from 5 to 10 pm, with hundreds of beautifully dressed guests there. They made no effort to bring fans or other cooling, and offered no apology. Everything was melting, including the butter, and there was no ice. People were sweaty and uncomfortable, faces were shiny in the photos, hairstyles fell apart, and hardly anyone danced. We had good conversations, but every one of them ended up being about how hot and stale it was. It was embarrassing for the guests. This place deserves no stars, and I would never recommend it.

Checking the room locations on RoomRankView.com before I arrived made a real difference. At check-in, the front desk woman said only rooms 522 and 514 were available. I already knew 522 had the better view, so I chose it. I'm glad I did: from 514 I'd have been looking straight at another building, while 522 had a much more open view. It really changed how the room felt. The rest of the hotel was fantastic too. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the atmosphere and staff were great. Check-in went smoothly, everything seemed well maintained, and the location was perfect. I'd happily stay again.

The history, beautiful room, great location for walking everywhere, and wonderful staff made this stay lovely. Two small things were annoying: the toilet handle was broken and made flushing a little difficult, and the toilet paper holder came apart when I pulled off a piece. Everything else was absolutely wonderful.
