Holiday Inn Express and Suites Kansas City Airport by IHG

The team was welcoming and check-in went smoothly, and the room worked for what I needed, though it felt a little dated. I was woken several times by doors slamming early in the morning and by footsteps and movement from the room above. Parking was limited and hard to manage. The staff were kind and helpful, and some updating plus better sound control would make the stay much better.

Getting to the airport took just seven minutes on the shuttle. Tell the front desk what time you need to leave after 4:30 AM, and they'll drop you at your gate. The upgraded rooms are nice, and the bathroom mirror doesn't fog up. Breakfast was hot and good, and the service was good too.

Everything went pleasantly: check-in was quick, the hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly. It's handy for airport travel and about a 20-minute drive from downtown. Breakfast is better than average in my opinion. I don't eat pork, so I appreciated the turkey sausage, and they had omelets instead of powdered eggs 😋. This will be my regular place to stay when I travel to KC.

I booked a room, then tried to cancel it within three minutes because of a family emergency. The hotel wouldn't offer a refund. I spent over an hour on website chat and phone calls trying to cancel and get my money back while dealing with the emergency. The manager on duty told me that refunding everyone who couldn't travel because of an emergency would cost them over $300,000 in revenue. They don't care about the customer experience. I wouldn't stay here.
