Homewood Suites by Hilton Kansas City Speedway

There was plenty of room for the kids to relax, and it was a great hotel otherwise. Breakfast let it down, though: the hot food bar items were only room temperature. I’d stay here again.

The front desk told me the second charge, which had originally covered Sunday through Friday, was now only good through Thursday, so they said I owed for another night. I had to pay it. They also charge for onsite self-parking even though the hotel isn’t in an area with limited parking. The front desk seemed there just to enforce corporate policy and, apparently, greed. Morning breakfast was terrible, the food tasted like cardboard, and they removed the eggs and OJ while I was there. I don’t want to return.

The rooms, carpet, and maintenance needed attention at first, and none of the ice machines worked. But the staff and management, especially Keri, were professional and supportive, and they resolved our concerns right away. The bedding and towels were clean. The walls are a little thin, but the area was quiet and we slept well. The location is convenient for shopping, food, and getting onto the interstate.

The staff were so friendly and right on top of an awful bathroom situation by the lobby. But the hotel is old and not clean. Our room had splatters on the headboard, brown smears on the comforter under a sheet, and dirty carpet. That was just part of the list. At $100, it was worse than a Super 8. Breakfast was a mess too. The waffle machine had no batter and wasn’t working, and the brown sugar for oatmeal was left nowhere near the oatmeal.
