Comfort Inn Kearney - Liberty

We asked to move because room 315 smelled strongly of smoke and neither room seemed clean. The desk staff said the last guest had checked out two days earlier and it couldn't be that bad, then said they were sold out. They weren't helpful, and if we'd found another room nearby, we would've left. There was no hot tub, just a concrete-filled space, despite the hotel website photos. The stairwells had dust, dirt, and trash. Room 315 had someone else's food in the microwave, dirty carpet, holes in the walls, moth holes in the curtains, and stained sheets and linens. Room 306 also had dirty, stained bedding and disgusting carpet. Breakfast was poor too: no fruit, barely any milk, one cereal choice, coffee that wasn't refilled, and cold, watery eggs. An employee microwaved frozen sausages in front of everyone, poured off the liquid, then put the half-cooked sausages on the serving platter without gloves. I've stayed at several hotels in the area. The room I got through Priceline wasn't the one I had selected. Its carpet was so sticky that I fetched a dozen towels and laid them down just to walk around. It looked as if they'd tried to freshen it with powder, but that didn't help. The curtain rod was hanging out of the wall, held by half a screw. Why rent a room in that condition? There was no quality control. The desk blamed road contractors staying in the rooms and offered no solution or refund. The pool photo showing a hot tub beside it isn't even from this hotel, so that felt like false advertising. It turned into a bad stay.

The bathroom light kept flickering, and its ventilation fan was loud enough to wake the dead. The coffee pot was filthy, and chewed gum was stuck to the headboard. There were stains on the carpet, and the sheets had blood stains and bugs on them. We would've been better off sleeping in the car. Avoid this inn.

The breakfast was decent, but the room was dirty. The carpet smelled awful, like a dog had gone to the bathroom before we arrived late Thursday night. The curtains were dirt-stained, and when I lifted the bedding, the mattress was a nasty brown. There was no mattress protector, so we used our own sheets and bedding in layers to cover it. The shower curtain frame was coming off the wall, and the room keys never worked for more than a day, so we had to get a new one each day. I wouldn't recommend it for families.
