WoodSpring Suites South Brunswick - Princeton

I’ve been here for three of my four days, and I’ve asked four times for them to fix the sink drainage. They’ve had plenty of chances to take care of it during the day. Apparently having a bathroom sink that drains is a luxury, not a necessity.

The room itself wasn’t bad, but I won’t be back. The beds slide around on the floor, and I could hear voices through the electrical outlet even though nobody was in the room next door. That felt like a major safety issue. There’s no free WiFi, hair dryer, hand towels, iron, or ironing board. The suites have no cookware, dishes, silverware, or other kitchen amenities. They offer only coffee for four hours, no breakfast, and no plastic utensils, saying that’s because of the long-term guests. That’s no excuse. The floor I was on smelled so strongly of cooking it made me gag, and on my second day the elevator smelled like feces and urine. They sprayed Febreeze, which helped with the food smell in the hallway on the first day.

I booked ahead for a one-night staycation and was shocked that this place is even considered a “hotel.” They gave me two different rooms in five minutes because neither was up to standard. The first had tobacco all over the blanket despite the bed being made. In the second, multiple blood stains and pools were visible through the sheets on the mattress. I asked for an immediate refund and stayed somewhere else. The woman at the front desk was accommodating and understood why I didn’t want to try a third room.

The hotel itself is nice and clean, and when I arrived around 3 PM on a Monday, the young woman at the front desk was kind and welcoming. I wish I’d caught her name. The morning staff member was a different experience. When I went to extend my stay, she made me feel unwelcome and came across as dismissive. Good customer service matters a lot to me. Later, while I was renewing my room key, she took a phone call as she helped me, then handed over the key without another word. It felt impersonal and unprofessional.
