Econo Lodge

The only good part was the woman at the front desk when we checked in. She listened when we complained about the first room, moved us, and called an hour later to ask if the new one was okay. She was helpful and accommodating. Everything else was awful. They didn't mention the $100 deposit until the last moment. The first room had its lock broken, with the cable and WiFi unplugged and not working. The second smelled like stale air and mold. Breakfast was terrible, the bread was stale and barely toasted, and the woman we told about it was rude. I heard reports of bedbugs and cockroaches, so we brought our own bedding, which now needs washing. We were told the WiFi didn't need a password. There weren't enough outlets for our devices either. I'm tired of listing the problems. Please stay somewhere else if you can.

For what we paid, it was okay. I actually liked that we got a smoking room, though someone else might not. The staff were nice and let us check out late. The room wasn't clean, though: there was hair on the towels, something like gunk or possibly poop on the shower curtain, and the fan was broken. Pretty much everything else was dated too. If you're not willing to skip showering during your stay, I'd look elsewhere.

We got in around midnight after a long travel day, with my family in the car, and ended up having to find somewhere else. Nearly every nearby hotel was full, so we paid almost twice as much for a place over half an hour away. Here's why: the room we'd booked hadn't been cleaned at all, with garbage, dirty towels on the floor and in the sink, and hair in the sink. It smelled bad, so I asked for another room. The replacement was also dirty, and worse, someone was staying in it. There were open suitcases on the bed, clothes everywhere, and it sounded like guests might be in the bathroom. I was glad I didn't walk in on them. When I returned to the desk a third time, nobody apologized or explained, and they didn't give us another room. I was left with the filthy room or finding another hotel. I couldn't believe someone in hospitality could do their job so badly; it felt like a prank. Do not stay at the Econo Lodge in Kent.

The room itself was clean and nice, and the staff were friendly. The rest of the property was pretty gross: trash was scattered around, there was a pile of vomit just outside the lobby, and the advertised hot tub was ice cold with bugs and an old piece of pizza floating in it.
