My job only kept me here on a short-term lease, which is a shame because the apartment was better than I expected and the amenities were excellent. The management team was attentive, helpful, and quick to respond. They also dealt promptly with a small AC problem and did what they could to fix it fast. I would have stayed longer if I hadn’t needed to move. It’s a great place to live.

The building staff were generally nice, but I lived here from 2023-2025 and saw FOUR property managers come and go. That much turnover makes me think the corporate landlord and managers don’t care about treating residents well. I followed the rules when I arranged a lease takeover. I was promised in writing, including in the contract, that my $1638 security deposit would be returned in full. I was also told I’d get about $630 in prorated rent back because I moved out mid-month. After several months of waiting and repeated follow-ups, I still haven’t received either amount in full. They sent about half of what they owed TWO MONTHS after I moved out, which was unlawfully late, then said I’d lose the rest if I didn’t keep contacting them. I stayed polite and followed up many times, but got ignored, given the runaround, or treated rudely by whoever answered the main number. Without all that chasing, I’d be out over $2000. They’re still illegally holding my deposit and rent refund, but I’ve run out of patience and don’t want to spend more months trying to get it back. I wouldn’t have lived here if I’d known they treated residents this way. Avoid this place, the landlord and management are slimy.

I was so relieved to move out that I popped champagne that day. The Albert was the worst, and one of the most expensive, places I’ve rented. Problems kept coming every week, and leaving before my lease ended would have cost a fortune. The garage entrance was much farther from the building than I was told on the tour. There was often a homeless man outside making comments, and a couple of times he followed me toward the garage while calling me names. Parking could mean driving in circles up to the roof, sometimes without finding a space. The package room was occasionally inaccessible, and flooding in the basement happened several times, shutting off access to the laundry. Afterward, the stairs from the package room always smelled like feces. The building was loud day and night, especially on the alley side. My sleep-tracking bracelet showed no deep sleep for the whole year, even with earplugs, and I’m still trying to get my health back. The elevators broke constantly: one was out most of the time in 2023-2024, and the other kept failing too. Getting to the top floor on foot was hard, and deliveries meant carrying everything upstairs. Heat, AC, and water were also a problem. We froze for days in winter and melted in summer, and the windows iced over on the inside, so I kept blankets on the sills.

I work as a vendor for the building, and whenever I drop by to say hello, Kerry and his team are welcoming and friendly.
