After a rude first conversation with the woman I spoke to, I checked into a first-floor room and found its door standing open and the room trashed, as the pictures show. The desk apologized and moved me to a room upstairs, but the whole experience wasn't worth $180 for the night. With the condition of that room, the cleanliness and safety concerns, and the hassle, I expected at least an offer of a partial refund. There wasn't one.

We had a spacious, clean king room with everything we needed for one night, and the pool was clean and refreshing. Check-in and checkout were quick, and the employees were friendly. Breakfast had the usual continental options, including eggs, sausage, beef and bean fried burritos, fruit, and yogurt, though there was no toast or biscuits and the pancake machine was out of order. It's a good spot just off I-10. I only remembered to take pictures of breakfast, not the roomy room.

If accessibility matters, be sure to bring it up beforehand. Most of the property isn't accessible, and although the pool has a lift, there's no accessible way to reach it. The rooms are big, but everything feels worn and dated. The sheets were clean but threadbare, there are no USB charging outlets, and we didn't want to walk barefoot on the carpet. With doors opening to the outside, this is more of a motel than a hotel.

This was our third time at Best Western Sunday House in Kerrville, and the stay felt like the place might be under new management. The courtyard used to be a real pleasure, and overall we've liked the property before. This time, housekeeping replaced our lightly used towels all three days even though we leave them off the floor to show we want to reuse them. Internet service was worse than on earlier stays, especially around the public areas and pool. The toilet shifted on the floor and its seat was loose; we reported both problems, but the work done barely helped either one. A group called "Fire & Iron MC Region 7," maybe 30 to 35 people, had the pool area late into the night. Quiet hours were posted for 10 pm, but they stayed until midnight, and repeated calls to the desk didn't lead to anyone reminding them. Hotels may welcome groups like this, but they should enforce their quiet hours when needed.
