Spark by Hilton Killeen

The room was roomy and clean, and the hooks in the main bedroom were handy for hanging jackets. I prefer that to using a closet when I’m only there overnight, since things stay in sight. There was a small fridge but no freezer. The bathroom had plenty of counter space for toiletries, and the main floor had an ice maker and water refill station. Breakfast included a bagel bar, cereal, oatmeal packets, yogurt, and hard-boiled eggs. The elevator could use a deep clean and some touch-ups, as another reviewer mentioned. At this location we only got one water bottle per room at check-in, compared with two at other Spark and Hilton locations. There’s no pool. I can’t really speak to the neighborhood, but the hotel was easy to find. We booked the Spark because of the price.

I spent about $2,400 a month here for over two months, and I was disappointed that my Diamond member benefits weren’t honored after I made a new reservation. I was told the benefits don’t apply to each reservation. The black-haired woman at the desk, whose name I can’t remember, made the stay special with her kindness. Check-in was easy, and I could go straight to my room with the mobile key. The staff were nice, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the location was decent, near restaurants and a supermarket. The fitness room was nice, though there’s no pool. Some things didn’t work so well. Internet was horrible, the AC was noisy in some rooms, and it was hard to get my room cleaned. Dogs barking were annoying too. The breakfast reviews are right: I got up to find only cereal, muffins, and packaged oatmeal, which was really disappointing and not acceptable. The small market sells snacks and water, but $4 for water is expensive. Even with those problems, the rest of the hotel was nice, and I do recommend staying here.

The elevator was absolutely disgusting, and the small rooms had no storage. For the money, it didn’t feel like the Hilton experience I expected, and I won’t return. The desk woman was rude, made excuses, and showed no empathy. On 10-20-25 at 4:30p, she couldn’t find my reservation. I suggested she ask someone who could help, assuming she might be new, but she said she already had and told me I’d have to figure it out myself. That was frustrating. I called Hilton support, which is what she should have done, and they found the reservation immediately. The phone representative was fantastic, knowledgeable, and professional. The front desk woman also spoke badly about me to the maintenance boy, apparently thinking I couldn’t hear. She seemed annoyed that I didn’t say anything after I had to find someone to teach her how to do her job. The maintenance boy then slammed the front desk door as my daughter and I were walking toward the elevator. That pushed an already terrible experience over the edge. My daughter has a mental disability, and the door slam made her very anxious and brought her to tears. It felt aggressive and disrespectful, especially after their private conversation about me. The elevator didn’t look like it had been cleaned since the remodel. The room was small and lacked basics, including storage. Train the desk woman to do her job, teach the maintenance boy to be respectful, and clean the hotel.

The coffee was good, a nice bonus. I was in Killeen Texas for two nights and would book Spark again next time. The room was super clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows, free WiFi, a nice TV, and a desk area for work. There was a little road noise from the Hwy, but that’s to be expected.
