Crowne Plaza: Philadelphia - King of Prussia by IHG

I’ve stayed here at least 10 times over the past two years, despite seeing mixed reviews. The breakfast area is amazing, and the modern lobby has lots of handy seating plus workstations for using a computer. The convention area is spacious too. Everyone in customer service is very polite and kind, including the housekeepers. I always book a two bed room. There’s room for an oversized chair and ottoman by the window, plus a refrigerator and a nice dresser. The bathroom has what you need, including lotion and hand soap by the sink. In the shower, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel come in bottles attached to the wall. Everything feels up to date. For the price, I think the hotel is amazing. If you want to complain, maybe spend five or six hundred dollars for a five star hotel. Period.

The lobby is cozy, the staff are really friendly, and breakfast has a good selection. It was free with our stay, and the location is excellent and convenient, so check the map. The rooms, though, don’t look as updated as the pictures suggest. With two queen beds they feel small, the beds make noise and aren’t very comfortable, and the hallway is so dark it feels scary. The bathroom doors only slide shut and don’t lock. I’m not sure I’d return unless the price was right.

The rooms themselves were nice, but the shower head looked like it had mold and hadn’t been replaced in years. Worse, the walls are paper thin. I could hear the couple next door having a sex fest, even from the hallway. If my wife and I had brought our kids, they would have heard everything. I was looking forward to the stay because of a local show and the mall across the street, but it was such a disappointment. At the front desk, the staff member seemed annoyed by my questions, especially when I asked whether the room was ready and if early check-in might be possible.

The location is good, and the staff were helpful and very nice. But the king bed room I found on Expedia looked spacious in the pictures and was listed for two adults and two kids with a sofa bed. In reality, the beds filled the entire room, leaving nowhere for bags or luggage. The room was quite beat up, with stains on the walls, and we ended our stay early. Unfortunately, they don’t have rooms that can accommodate families.
