Motel 6 Kingsburg, CA

The receptionist was friendly, but the room had no WiFi even though the front desk confirmed I had the right password. The door lock looked like it had been tampered with, and someone had stuffed a tissue into the peephole. The three pillows were flat, and the sheets were thin, as if they'd been washed and used for a very long time. I was visiting family nearby, but I won't stay here again.

I left before ever seeing the room, so I can't say whether it was any good. After driving for more than three hours overnight, exhausted and hoping for a nap, I walked into the lobby and had to call out to the front desk woman from the back before she acknowledged me. No greeting, just an irritated attitude. I showed my ID, and my debit card was declined because I hadn't loaded money onto my travel card. I explained, apologized, and fixed it with my credit card, which worked. When she asked me to sign the e-doc, I said I'd do that after checking the room. She seemed extremely annoyed that I wanted to see where I was paying to sleep. Then she handed me a key card without telling me the room number. I gave it back and asked her to cancel everything. As an Asian (Hmong) woman traveling alone and just trying to find a safe, clean place to rest, that interaction felt rude, lazy, and unprofessional. For me, basic customer service wasn't there. I don't know what the rooms are like, and after that experience I didn't care to find out. Motel 6, do better. I'm taking my money elsewhere and hoping for a much better next stop.

The rooms were clean, with plenty of accommodations, and the air conditioning was more than enough. The pool was clean and nice to swim in, and having a pet-friendly place was great. But a week after my stay, the woman who checked us in ran my credit card again and tried to charge another motel stay. By then we were over 1,000 miles away. The charges were disputed and declined, and I had to get a new card.

In August 2025, this was the dirtiest place I've ever stayed. After a shower, my feet were black within minutes. The bathroom had mildew on the shower walls and trim, a filthy toilet paper holder, stained towels with holes, and no shampoo or conditioner, iron, or blow dryer. The sheets were stained and had holes at least 1 1/2-2 inches wide, the quilt had a huge 12-inch stain, and the headboard was dirty. There were stains on the walls, plus what looked like food and maybe blood. The dresser was so dirty we couldn't put our clothes away. The pool area was just as bad. There were no pool towels, and crap floated in both the pool and hot tub. With the jets on, it kept hitting me in the face. Both were chipped and cracked. All the dirt, holes, and stains made me feel like scum on their shoes. This was not worth $79 a night. They should have no stars. Who treats guests like this? So gross!
