Super 8 by Wyndham Kirksville-University Area

The owner and manager were exceptionally friendly and kind. On our three-week road trip, this was the best hotel yet. It had been revamped, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. Breakfast was great too. If you're passing through Kirksville, this is the place to stay. Colton’s Steakhouse is right next door and was another great find.

Manager Ray Patel was the highlight of my trip. His service was outstanding, and he stays on the property, just a bell ring away. He was always smiling and was the best hotel or motel front desk manager I've encountered. He lent me a blow dryer, gave me a complimentary bottle of water and ibuprofen when I was out, and even offered to help with my luggage. I told him how impressed I was by his service and dedication, and that I'd leave a glowing review. The entire place was very clean, and the rooms were spotless and quiet. Apparently there are new owners, and all the rooms have been renovated. It's no frills, though: there are no closets, just a few coat hooks, and no luggage racks. Rooms don't have hair dryers either, although I got one from the front desk. There's no elevator, so keep in mind that you'll have to carry luggage up to the third and top floor. The price seems to reflect the limited amenities. There was a coffee maker in the room, and the lounge serves coffee around the clock. The complimentary breakfast was standard, with scrambled eggs and bacon one day, sausage gravy and biscuits the next, plus yogurt, fruit, a waffle maker, bread, and cereal. If you didn't have a great experience at this Super 8 before, I strongly suggest giving it another try since it changed ownership.

The room was clean and warm, and the bathroom was exceptionally clean. Everything in town was easy to get to from here, and the staff were very nice and took time to get to know us. Breakfast was hot and free. My wife and I were in town to see my stepdaughter graduate from the local university. I've stayed at several Super 8 locations, and this is easily the nicest one. I'd definitely book here again if I return to Kirksville.

The service was first rate, and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The Super 8's newly upgraded rooms are nice and comfortable. I'd recommend this hotel. Thanks so much to all my coworkers.
