Best Western La Plata Inn

The breakfast was a real highlight, with a strong mix of hot and cold choices, better than what I've had at other hotel chains. I was also surprised by how comfortable the place felt, especially the roomy guest room. I stayed five days to see family, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking close to the entrance made getting to my room easy. Thanks for a lovely visit, I'll be back.

Room 226 was mostly clean, and I didn't have trouble with noise from the hall or next door. The TV had a decent channel selection, including streaming movies, and the location was convenient. For a nearby meal, Marie's on the southbound side of US301 is worth a try, especially for dessert. The staff were polite and professional. The first night was rough, though: the wall HVAC unit rattled so loudly that I had to shut it off to hear the TV. There wasn't another room available, and no repair person was on duty. The manager fixed it the next morning. A few things in the room need attention. The bathroom door looks poorly patched and needs repainting. There's nowhere to hang clothes, the tub has no slip-resistant surface so be careful, and the shower pull-up control needs lubrication to get the full flow. Water pressure at both the shower and sink was fine. Coffee is only in the dining room on the first floor, which is a hassle when you're upstairs. I usually think Hilton properties are the best, and the few Inns I book are Hilton ones. Best Western comes close and costs less than Hampton Inn.

The front desk staff were pleasant, but they seemed stretched thin. I often found nobody at the desk because they were busy elsewhere, so getting help meant waiting. The parking lot hadn't been cleared and was completely icy. I could smell people smoking inside and outside from my room, and brown water came out of the sink several times. I left pretty disappointed.

The building felt a bit dated, and the bath towels weren't clean, though that may have been an oversight. My room itself was very clean during my February 8, 2026 stay. What stood out most was Joy Christian's service. I reserved by phone, and he answered all my questions with real politeness and warmth. When we arrived, he was just as friendly and professional, and even remembered the details of our earlier conversation.
