The Westin O'Hare

The drivers were polite and helpful. They told us where to go when we returned, handled our bags gently getting them onto the bus, and drove smoothly. Great service, and I’d recommend it. Sorry to any women drivers, we didn’t happen to meet you. We parked here while traveling. I wish the confirmation email gave clearer directions about where to catch the bus. To get one, go through the hotel and out to the front.

The room was fine, but the shuttle situation made this a bad experience. We had a late flight, and the airport shuttle wasn’t running every 20 minutes as advertised. If I’d known we’d be waiting that long at 1 a.m., I’d have taken an Uber to the hotel. When I asked the front desk about whether the shuttle would be reliable for our flight the next morning, the clerk got defensive and insisted there was no way we’d waited as long as I said.

I appreciate that the hotel refunded my stay, and the rooms are great. The restaurant is above average for an airport hotel, and I’d stay again. Still, the experience was frustrating. If I saw a large group of teens at check-in next time, I’d go somewhere else. I was there last weekend hoping to rest before an early flight, but a youth dance competition was underway. The front desk assured me my room would be far from the chaos, yet I was next to a room with screaming, yelling, and doors slamming late into the night. Security apparently responded, but teens will be teens and there wasn’t much they could do. I also counted on the 4:40 a.m. shuttle, but I don’t know if it never came, was 15 minutes late, or if the 5 a.m. one left five minutes early. I left around 4:55 a.m.

The hotel is conveniently next to the airport, with friendly service at a reasonable price. The whole staff worked together to find my missing package of flowers, and they made it easy to move to a new room when we noticed a little damage on the ceiling. Five stars for the amazing help from Monique, Allie in security, Ms. Edlyn, Adonis, Edward, and everyone else at Westin O’Hare. They went above and beyond.
